Experimenting with AI tools by creating a fictional brand to tell a story about the speculative consequences of technology.

About
In their book Speculative Everything: Design, Fiction, and Social Dreaming, Anthony Dunne and Fiona Raby discuss design fiction and design futures. They describe this form of design as being free from market pressures, instead using design to pose questions, provoke thought, and inspire commentary on topics such as culture, politics, technology, capitalism, and more.
The brand ‘Anvil’ is an AI based social media platform released in 2030 which provides an unprecedented social experience but has been secretly using the entire population’s data to train its AI. Using this information, over the decades, Anvil becomes the most profitable company and by 2100 Anvil becomes a monopolistic corporation owning the entire world’s energy, space, technology, food, fashion, etc. in 2100 Anvil isn’t a brand but civilisation itself.
This is a fictional brand made as a storytelling device for what a future dominated by a single entity looks like. I have taken inspiration from movies and shows such 'Black Mirror' and 'Wall E' to come up with this concept.

Process
To execute this project, I used ChatGPT to ideate, write, and refine the story of Anvil. I also used it for suggestions on art direction, color, typography, and prompt development, which I then applied to create the brand identity and visual language in Illustrator. I used Midjourney to generate multiple iterations of people photography, product design, landscape visuals, and other imagery. These images were then refined in Photoshop through color correction, composition adjustments, and mockup creation. Once the mockups were ready, I used Pika Labs to transform the stills into videos, which I then compiled and edited in Premiere Pro.
